What is family concierge medicine?
Family Practice Concierge medicine is a membership-based program designed to foster greater connectivity with your physician and conveniences that simply aren’t always possible in today’s traditional-style practices. Patients and if they choose, their entire family, can receive a heightened practice medical experience and a more personal relationship with their physician. The more that join, the better the price.
Your concierge physician will have more time with you to:
Your Primary Practitioner will be available when you need us with appointments that start on time, when you want, how you want, tailored just for your particular needs. You will get through every time.
Get to know each patient better with plenty of time for unique lifestyle and health profile assessments and individualized treatment plans.
Collaborate, comfort, review treatment regimens and work towards health goals specific for each and every person.
Advocate with specialists and other care providers on your behalf.
Monitor your care during hospital admissions.
Concierge medicine is a more personal relationship between a patient and a primary care physician in which the patient pays an annual fee or retainer. In exchange for the retainer, doctors provide enhanced care, including principally a commitment to limit patient loads to ensure adequate time and availability for each patient. This includes personalized care and a watchful eye on patients at times of need.
Concierge physicians care for fewer patients than those in a conventional practice, ranging from 50 patients per doctor to 1,000, compared to 3,000 to 4,000 patients that the average traditional physician now sees every year, ( Dr. Levens had 4,700 patients in his traditional practice in early 2017 seeing over 2800 patients in 2016 alone ).
Concierge medicine vs. conventional practice
Concierge practices removes barriers to accessing care whenever it is needed: the annual fee often includes most or all physician services. This model does not rely on insurance co-pays, deductibles, or co-insurance fees, in contrast to models such as conventional practices, where doctors may charge insurance or Medicare for most other services. These co-pays, deductibles can exceed the fees charged by concierge doctors in many cases. Almost all concierge practices in Collier County also bill insurance; Dr. Levens will not.
Simply stated, the biggest difference between conventional primary care and retainer based practices is that concierge takes a flat up-front rate fee whereas in other models co-pays equal or exceed the costs in co-pays and deductibles over the period of the year. The restraints of insurance based clinical practices make concierge medicine a choice for those attending strictly to the practice of medicine and the recipient of more personalized and individualized care.
